Hi, I'm Mosh!
I am excited to be launching the Mo News newsletter. Our goal is to cut through the endless headlines and break down news you can trust. We’ll cover the stories that matter and the topics driving conversations with family, friends and colleagues. At a time when so many of us are overwhelmed by the news and have lost trust in the media, Mo News will give you key facts, context and insightful interviews to make sense of the day's events. And because news shouldn’t always be so serious, we’ll have entertaining stories and memes to make you smile.
To start, my first name is pronounced "Moh-sh" and my last name is pronounced “Wah-noo-noo” (yes, the first day of school was always interesting).
My dad likes to say that when I was 7, he would give me money for ice cream and I would buy a newspaper instead. Fast forward. I have nearly 20 years of experience leading award-winning coverage at networks like Fox News, Bloomberg and at CBS--where I was executive producer of the CBS Evening News.
I have had the privilege of running newsrooms and traveling the globe to cover the biggest headlines in politics, business and international relations. From the Fukushima nuclear meltdown to the BP Oil Spill, stock market crashes to elections, I have produced interviews with five American presidents and dozens of world leaders and CEOs along the way.
Then, like so many of you, I made a pivot during COVID. I started my own consulting business and for the first time, I was a consumer of news. I quickly became frustrated by all the conflicting and misleading information. And so I took to my Instagram account, @mosheh, to curate headlines from all perspectives and add analysis to help people better understand the pandemic, the 2020 election and headlines from around the world from politics, tech, culture and business.
Along the way, we built an incredible, smart and diverse community and started a unique dialogue about the stories you cared about and how the news impacted your families and friends. It is a back and forth that doesn't exist in traditional news and is part of what makes this so special.
What started as a quarantine hobby is now officially Mo News. We will build on the philosophy of the @mosheh instagram account by bringing it directly to your inbox. What you need to know about stories that matter from around the globe, some facts to help you be an excellent "middle" at the dinner table and some memes to share on your group text chat.
In the past couple years, I’ve heard from so many of you, who’ve said that some days you need a break from social media but still want to find out what’s happening. Enter: the Mo News newsletter.
Unlike other news platforms, we will distinguish our coverage by making it a conversation. Just like on Instagram, I will share your personal experiences with the headlines in order to help inform everyone. We will seek to be responsive to the stories you care about and how the news is impacting your lives.
What To Expect:
Monday will recap the weekend and set up what matters each week.
Wednesday will include a 'deep-dive' featuring interviews and analysis to help you understand the story behind key headlines.
Friday will recap the headlines of the week and some fun items to look forward to heading into the weekend.
Paid subscribers will exclusively get the Wednesday edition, invites to live zoom and in-person events that include special guests and me as well as other future benefits.
And, so here we go! I look forward to your feedback.
